Last Update: 20170421 This File: _BV_DarkSide_fyi These are .mp3 files ripped from the CD "Keb Darge & Cut Chemist Present the Dark Side" which was received 20170420 from BBEMUSIC.COM The CD is a compilation 30 various "Garage Punk" songs, including the self-written tune "Don't Leave Me This Way" by, yes, the Blue Velvets. When contacted by BBE, I (DRM) provided them with three .wav versions of the original Damon pressing. Presumably BBE cleaned up some of the hiss and other noise from my original digital conversions. Here is a link to three downloadable audio .wav file versions, plus an image scan of the original Damon 45 rpm acetate record: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AuVXN30HOjSchBzCH3CAQicf6YzB Also included at the link above is the file "Don't Leave Me This Way_BBE.mp3" which is an uploaded .mp3 rip of the file as included on the actual CD by BBE. There are also several .jpg and .pdf files of the CD packaging. This text file is "out there" too. From the CD liner notes: "The Blue Velvets - Don't Leave Me This Way From Kansas City Missouri were conceived when the three guitarists met up by chance in 1960 whilst riding their Triumph motorcycles. They all stopped together to share a Coke, and a chat about bikes, the conversation turned to music, and their shared interest brought them together to forma a band. They were a band that lasted longer than all the others on this comp, going right through till 1978 with a number of changes in the line up. The line up when "Don't Leave Me This Way" was recorded in 1965 however was, Dan Martin (guitar) John Douglas (guitar) [Bass, actually - DRM], Ed Rode (guitar), Mike Shaw (vocals), and Tony DiPardo [Jr.]. They recorded four songs for Vic Damon's Damon Records, a label mostly known to collectors for acetates, not actual vinyl releases. "Summertime" and "Baby What's Wrong" only made it as far as the acetate stage, but this with a forgettable ballad on the flip side made it as far as 500 copies being pressed for distribution." I am a very late arrival on this scene, and still have a hell of a lot to learn, and buy. This is more for people like I was just three years ago, people oblivious to beauty, power, and excitement of the sixties garage sound.” – Keb Darge 2016 EOF
