Unfortunately none of the above, except for ths YouTube video, seems to mention
WHY there even IS an Electoral College in the first place.  The short answer is:

TO PREVENT HUGE-POPULATION URBAN STATES such as California,
Illinois, New York, etc. FROM ALWAYS ELECTING THE PRESIDENT.

You should always be in favor of RETAINING the Electoral College.

============[ WHY TO RETAIN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE: ]=====================
The below puts the Electoral College in perfect perspective:

(A) There are 3,141 counties in the US. Trump won 3,084 of them
    and Hillary won only 57.

(B) There are 62 counties in New York State. Trump won 46.
    Hillary won only 16.

(C) Hillary won the popular NYS votes by approximately 1.5 million.

(D) In the 5 counties that encompass NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
    Richmond and Queens) Hillary received well over 2 million more
    votes than Trump. Hillary won 4 of these counties; 
    Trump won one, Richmond (Staten Island).

(E) Therefore these five (5) New York City counties alone, accounted
    for Hillary's winning the popular vote of the entire country.

(F) These 5 counties comprise only 319 square miles. 
    The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.
    When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square
    miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the
    vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate
    the outcome of a national election!

(G) Largely densely population Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.)
    do not and should not speak for the rest of our country.

Pass this information on to all the sad folks you know that believe that
the popular vote should decide the President.

P.S. Due to the fact that our USA is a Representative Republic,
     and NOT a "democracy," the President is an election
     BY & FOR the 50 states. 

     Check the Constitution and read your history books.
