A motorcycle tour taken July 18 thru July 26 2011 - Through the states of CO UT MT WY ID - by Dan Martin riding a 2007 Yamaha Majesty YP400. ====================================== Statistics from Dan's 400cc Majesty: Trip Miles: 2,659 (per odometer) Gallons Used: 43.852 Overall mpg: 60.430 Fuel Cost: $159.37 Cost per Mile: $ 0.06 Avg Cost/gal: $ 3.64 OTHER COSTS: 8 Stays Motel: $674.37 Avg per night: $84.30 I did not keep track of food costs. ============================================= The 400cc 1-cylinder Majesty engine is a 100% modern 4-stroke design: 10.5:1 compression, liquid cooling, Dual Over Head cam shafts, fuel injection, and a 4 valve cylinder head. It makes 35 horsepower. Four of them together would be 1600cc and make 140 horsepower. To put the Majesty engine into perspective: My 1300cc 4-cylinder ST1300 made 115 hp. Each of its cylinders is 325cc and makes about 29 horsepower. Per 100cc the ST1300 makes 8.85 hp Per 100cc the Majesty makes 8.75 hp Comparisons With Other Engines: My 1800cc 6-cylinder Gold Wing made 120 hp which is 6.66 hp per 100cc. My old 650cc Triumph T110 (2-cyl) made 40 hp, which is 6.15 hp per 100cc. The majesty is the only one of the above with an automatic transmission. It is stable and very easy to ride, even "hands off" at 80 mph (professional rider; do not attempt at home). =============================================
