Album: In the Middle of Somewhere Artist: Huns and Dr Beeker URL: http://hunsanddrbeeker.com/news/ Tracks: 01 - A DAY LIKE THIS An engaging on-the-road song with much to say to both those who have done it, and those who wish they had. Either way, we all know exactly when our own "Day Like This" went down. 02 - CEREAL GIRL The sad lament of every father when his little girl's monsters outgrow him. All dads know this tune is true. 03 - THE DEW DROP INN So smooth: rich production, sweet guitars, gourmet voices. The ultimate "Peaceful, Easy Feeling." 04 - PONIES Not since "Wildfire" has the free spirit been so well celebrated. Exciting production, great axe work. 05 - YOU ARE THE BEST Nice poem, simple yet satisfying execution. Less is indeed more. A song for The One that every man carries in his heart. When God grants that she feels the same way, and they _are_ One, it is Grace beyond measure. 06 - ROSIE Nicely done folk ballad about lost love. Sung, as always, from the heart of the one who was left behind. 07 - CRY ME A RIVER Lazy launch but soon the tension begins to build and build. Very nicely done. Cool guitars, and great sax work, too. Cast of thousands, seemingly. 08 - SECOND AND MAIN Dreamy, melancholy ballad, a vignette of changing times. Refreshing break to 3/4 time at the instrumental bridge. 09 - COMPANY MAN Nice hard-rhythm tune with lyrics sung as if boasted by a driven, 'gimme mine' type of grasper. 10 - HOW LUCKY A slow ballad extolling the irony of relative prosperity. Sad but true song of a hard working immigrant, rarely seen by those she serves. 11 - KEEPER OF THE FLAME A remarkable song-poem, hints of an eternal spirit will lend a hand stoking coal on the Titanic or manning a remote lighthouse. Candles and flames are his instruments of choice. 12 - GHOST TOWN A haunting dirge to the souls lost to the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, as "one by one they fell beside their comrades, the victims of a foe they could not see" 13 - LUCY Lamentations of a love left behind, over love lost but never forgotten. A pervasive weight of terminal sadness.
